Cheshire-based Outpost has launched an innovative new advertising campaign to help a North-West central heating system supplier make its first appearance on TV. The campaign’s two animated commercials aim to persuade viewers to ‘Ditch Your Bad Boiler,’ in favour of a modern, high efficiency A-rated replacement from Knowsley-based Simply Warmer.

Outpost created two old, less efficient D and G rated ‘bad boiler’ characters – Dexter and Gilbert - who viewers are urged to ditch in favour of the smart and efficient A-rated campaign hero – Alvin.

Simply Warmer Managing Director, Matthew Thomas, explained that, We loved the ‘bad boiler’ idea as soon as we saw it, and the guys at Outpost have really brought Alvin, Dexter and Gilbert to life. This is the first time we have advertised on TV and we’re sure everyone will warm to their antics, and that the campaign will help us achieve our ambitious business objectives.”

Dexter and Gilbert are shown causing mischief and chaos instead of heating homes, before the A-rated Alvin saves the day. Demonstrating how efficient and economical he is, Alvin disposes of the ‘bad boilers’ with the help of a strategically placed trapdoor and a huge industrial magnet.

Outpost Creative Director, Chris Wilcock revealed that his team had been working on the project for almost a year, since winning the business in a competitive pitch. “There’s been a lot of hard work gone into this project,” he says. “It’s been a real labour of love with the client, agency and animators working really closely to deliver a great creative solution, and we’re convinced it will deliver success for Simply Warmer,

The TV campaign forms the focal point of a wider campaign that Outpost has devised, which also includes a new website, digital display advertising, supporting their social campaign and a complete redesign of the sales material for Simply Warmer, which is part of Warmer Energy Services Ltd. Voiced by Men Behaving Badly star Neil Morrissey, the commercial animation was done by Liverpool-based Milky Tea, with sound design by LBS of Stockport
