Behind the scenes

So Hannah, you’ve been at Outpost 3 months now. How are you finding it?

It’s great! The last few months have flown by and I can’t believe how much I’ve learnt already! The team are very friendly so I didn’t feel like the new person for long.

This is the first agency you’ve worked at. How does it differ from being in house at big fashion retailers?

I love fashion and I’ve had some amazing experiences in my last roles but I think there’s a lot to be said for working at a small agency. The variety of clients means I’m learning something new every day and I’m enjoying the challenge. This is the smallest team I’ve ever worked in but it means you are valued and everyone’s opinion matters, I think that’s really important.

What is your favourite thing about working in social media?

I like the fun you can have with it and the freedom to try new things. Social media is constantly evolving so you’re always on your toes keeping up with new features and trending topics, there’s never a dull moment.

What three words best describe you?

Talkative, happy and enthusiastic

What do you do in your spare time?

I’ve just started to get back into running and I’m training for the We Love Manchester 10K in July. I’m also in the process of decorating my first home so I’ve usually got a paint brush in my hand, I love DIY! After that you can find me in Spinningfields with my friends.

Do you have a favourite social network?

It was Snapchat purely for the ‘raw’ feel of it and the freedom of posting more laid back content but Instagram stories has quickly converted me. The quicker i get the selfie filters the better!

What’s the dynamic like at Outpost?

It’s fab, I’ve never worked anywhere where working as a team is so important. It’s really refreshing to work alongside such dedicated and just generally nice people. Our days are often fuelled by many brew rounds, I’m struggling to keep up!

Are there any brands that you think really stand out in social media in terms of innovation and creativity?

I really like Burberry, they aren’t afraid to try new things and are often the first to jump on the newest social media updates. They invested in Snapchat advertising before anyone else and it shows how current and brave they are as a brand. Early adoption is the key to staying ahead in such a crowded market.
